Research

The overall goal of my research is the construction of fully autonomous systems and its application to continuous process systems.

The research has been focused on modeling and control of complex and large systems.

Additionally my research includes developing a model-centric cognitive architecture to be used with different formalisms and applications.

Lately I've been working on the use of functional models for risk detection and fault tolerant control in chemical plants, so I am quite involved and interested in Process Safety, tackling it from a Systems Theory and Model Based perspective. I am applying the STAMP - STPA approach to the Process Industry and working on using it integrated with functional models.

 Another part of my research is related to bioenergy, I have been collaborating in several industrial projects in the last years.
